World Endurance Championship intro.

Humanity has always found a way to interact with each other and have fun. As a result, various sporting activities, including motorsport, developed. Just as it did with horses in the early days, human society soon found a great way to come together in motor racing, which led to a series of racing competitions. As early as 1894, motor racing emerged as a sport. Thus, motorsport described all kinds of competitions, from two-wheeled to four-wheeled automobiles, and was regulated under the Fédération Internationale de l’Automobile (FIA). The FIA oversees motorsports activities in Formula 1, NASCAR, DTM, rally car, Indycar and WEC, to name just a few.

The FIA World Endurance Championship is organized by the ACO – Automobile Club de l’Ouest. As the name suggests, its long-hull motorsport was a long-distance and endurance race. WEC includes four classes of events, including LMP1, LMP2, LGTE Am, LMGTE Am and LMGTE Pro. The race follows the Intercontinental Le Mans Cup format with nine endurance races worldwide. It includes four categories, namely LMP1, LMP2, LMGTE Amateur and LMGTE Professional. Based on the total points awarded each season, six titles are awarded, including two world titles for manufacturers and drivers.

Why is the WEC so difficult?

Unlike the Straight Run Championships, the purpose of endurance racing is to test the durability of the equipment and the endurance of the riders, so it is a long distance race that becomes very tiring when the riders reach the advanced stages of the championship. Apart from the long journey, the terrain is not always in excellent condition. Sometimes, it leads to tire cracks, broken body parts and many other adverse events during the race.

The 2018 WEC season will make its debut in the WEC Super Season in 2018, and high-profile starters are expected to arrive over 14 months, starting in May 2018 and ending in June 2019. We are in the golden age of motorsports, and so much fun and excitement is expected at this year’s WEC Championships.
