What will be the route of WRC Italia Sardegna in 2022?

Well, the first destination on the map will be Olbia. Following Thursday morning’s 3.53km shakedown at Olmedo drivers will cross the Mediterranean island for the evening’s ceremonial start followed by Cabu Abbas (3.23km). That will be one brand-new test in the suburbs of the east coast city.

We will have no time to sleep on Friday, as the start of Molo Brin is planned at six in the morning. Get ready, as Friday is the longest day of our Sardegna’s adventure. There will be two stages repeated twice around the Monte Acuto region in Terranova (14.19 km) and Monti di Alà (24.70 km). There is already a service park in Alghero. After the stop, we will have two more stages in Osilo – Tergu (14.63 km) and Sedini – Castelsardo (13.26 km). Drive fast and run twice. We will return to Alghero to celebrate Friday.

No time for sleep on Saturday either, as we will start at seven in the morning to journey eight stages near Monte Acuto, with 131.82km! We will return to Alghero in the evening after a night break.

But only for a few hours, as Sunday’s start at eight o’clock will see us head north of Alghero along the coast to tackle the Cala Flumini and Sassari-Argentiera tests. After a quick break, we will see all the colorful spectacle of Wolf Power Stage at 12:18 local time.

Traditional swimming for winners is guaranteed.

What are the odds? Who is in favor?

Last year’s WRC Rally Italia Sardegna 2021 proved to be our proper test: from start to finish we were nervously trembling about who would win. Despite all the expectations and all the problems, Sebastien Ogier just came and won. Maestro.

Dani Sordo

The event will repeat the exciting story. Therefore, we have two favorites. First, of course, it is about Hyundai Motorsport driver Dani Sordo. The Spanish rally driver is predicting success, and we hope for it. He is the “il professore” of some gravel and asphalt stages. Although it is not always the case, sometimes Sordo exceeds expectations.

Kalle Rovanperä

Another driver is Kalle Rovanperä from Finland. The Toyota Gazoo racing driver is in Sardegna as the leader of the FIA World Rally Championship. Add to that the fact that Rovanperä has already won three rallies. He won the challenge in Sweden, outclassed all the drivers in rainy Rally Croatia and made a breakthrough in Portugal. And yes, those were three victories in a row. So, no wonder if he would manage the tricky narrow roads of Rally Italia Sardegna 2022.

What is new for round Italia Sardegna in 2022 ?

Alghero hosted the WRC Sardegna round for eight years until the pandemic forced the reshuffle into the schedule. Traditional are back and Alghero is sunny once more. The newly routed Thursday evening’s opening stage in Olbia, originally planned for 2020, will launch for the first time. Sunday’s route reverts to its traditional double loop through the west coast roads of Cala Flumini and Sassari – Argentiera! WRC All Live is the traditional place to meet!
