The Iconic destination

24h Le Mans in 2023 holds at Circuit de la Sarthe. The 13.6-kilometer track consists of public roads and a dedicated racetrack, and it has been a traditional track for the endurance race since 1923. A single lap of Le Circuit de la Sarthe covers approximately 8.5 miles long, and each turn and straight has its own story.

Imagine that speeds in the Mulsanne Straight have varied between 320 kph and 340 kph! Only chicanes stop this racing beyond the edge, as there was a speed record for 405 kph in 1988!

The race is expected to attract the most significant number of spectators from around the world. Thus, ACO president Pierre Fillion expects 300,000 to attend the 24 Hour of Le Mans 2023.

The Teams and Drivers to Watch Out For on 24 Hours of Le Mans 2023

Le Mans 24 is the Pure Endurance Test for drivers. Being a leg of the Motorsport Tripple crown, the 24 Hours of Le Mans attracts the best drivers and teams from world racing championships: Formula 1, WRC, WEC, DTM, and WTCR. Everyone wants to compete for the coveted win and Le Man’s champion title.

Fernando Alonso

Among the current F1 drivers is Fernando Alonso, who won Le Mans 24-hour race twice. In 2018, after leaving Formula 1, the Spaniard decided to try to covet the ‘Triple Crown’ of motorsport. This includes winning the F1 championship, Indy500, and Le Mans. Despite not succeeding at the Indy500, he won the iconic 24 Hours of Le Mans. Moreover, Alonso repeated the success the following year.

Among all the drivers in the Le Mans 2023 entry list, some stars attract the most attention of the race fans.

There are two stars in the racing world at the wheel of Cadillac Racing cars: six-time drivers’ champion of the IndyCar Series Scot Dixon and three-time Champ Car World Series Champion Sebastien Bourdais.

1997 Formula One Champion Jacques Villeneuve tries out at the Porshe Penske Motorsport car. Two-time Formula E champion Antonie Felix Da Costa sets at the wheel of Hertz Team Jota on 24 Hours Of Le Mans 2023.

Le Man’s cars are the speed monsters.

Unlikely, you will not find such fast race cars in any other racing discipline. Le Mans cars are so fast that they reach about 300 km at the Circuit de La Sarte. So, only chicanes stop them from racing beyond the age.

However, the race is divided into four different classes: LMP1, LMP2, GTE Pro, and GTE Am. Each class has its own set of rules and regulations. The cars must meet certain specifications to ensure safety and fairness. The top contenders for each category are carefully selected based on their performance in previous races and ability to handle the rigorous demands of the 24-hour race.
